Y'all. My life is crazy right now. I never understood when stay-at-home moms would say they were too busy. It just didn't make sense to me. How, if you're home all day everyday with complete control over your schedule, can you not have time for something simple? Like, writing a quick blog post for example. But I am now eating those words.
Because I am busy. And I'm feeling like I am behind on everything. I finally realized that I am trying to juggle too many balls at once. I start out with a handful and add a few on at a time. Then, before I know it, I'm juggling like twelve balls. And I keep it going for a few days and then all the sudden I realize I've dropped all the balls except like two. Thankfully, I have yet to drop the "keep my humans alive and fed" ball. But, pretty much all the others end up on the ground at some point. Housekeeping, meal planning, being a good wife, Moxie Made, photography, bible reading, being a good friend, daughter, sister.
Blogging is one ball that I really would like to keep in the air. But, it just seems to be the easiest thing to put off over and over again. When babies need to be fed and bathed and loved and read to. And when pictures need to be edited. And when the house needs to at least not look like a war zone for twenty minutes. The blogging ball gets dropped and doesn't get picked back up for days and weeks and sometimes even a month. And, it's no good. Because really, I never write down anything else. And I like my little corner of the internet. A place for pictures, a place to capture this sweet life I am getting the opportunity to live, a place to maybe help someone or encourage someone along the way.
So, all that to say, I'm trying to figure out which balls are the most important. Which balls are non-negotiables and which balls I can give myself grace in dropping, knowing that I'll pick them up soon, and maybe even which balls I need to get rid of.
I want to live every second of this one life to the fullest. Enjoying every second. Working hard and playing hard. But, sometimes in order to do that, you need to juggle fewer balls really well rather than have so many that you're constantly dropping one or two or five. So, I am working on refocusing on what the most important are and building from there. I have a feeling the housekeeping ball is not going to be on that initial list...
oh, and p.s., none of these pictures were edited. i figured if i spent time trying to get them edited, i'd never actually write the post.
Jenny, I enjoyed reading this so much!! This was a wonderful way to start my day. The pictures are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis post is a reminder to me to refocus. I have dropped the ball in several areas. Thank you for the reminder!
